There are nine members of the Lewis County Board of Education, each elected at-large to serve staggered four-year terms. Officers are elected by the members of the Lewis County Board of Education. Candidates to the Board of Education must conform to the eligibility requirements of the Tennessee Election Code.
Meeting Information
Regular meetings of the Lewis County Board of Education are held each month at the Lewis County Board of Education Meeting Room located at 206 South Court Street, Hohenwald, TN 38462 beginning at 5:30 p.m. during work sessions and 6:00 p.m. during business meetings unless scheduled otherwise.
Public Comment (Citizens to Be Heard) Procedure
Individuals desiring to appear before the Board may request placement on the agenda by contacting the office of the Director of Schools within 72 hours before the meeting. They will be recognized at the beginning of the meeting during public input and remarks will be limited to (3) minutes.
The Lewis County Board of Education
will meet on Tuesday, September 8, 2026,
in the Lewis County Board of Education Board Meeting Room located at
206 South Court Street, Hohenwald, TN for the regular scheduled meeting at 6:00 p.m.
There will be a workshop prior to the regularly scheduled meeting beginning at 5:00 p.m.
During the workshop, board members that were elected in the August 6, 2026, election will be sworn in.
The agenda will include:
- Director’s report
- Discussion/action to name the press box the “Bill Lynch Voice of the Panthers” press box.
- Discussion/action on the placement of the names Bill Lynch and Coach Bobby Sharp.
- Discussion/action to approve LCHS softball team to travel to Chattanooga, TN on March 11, 2027, through March 13, 2027. The team will be participating in the 2027 Chattanooga Christian School Invitational tournament. All transportation and hotel stays will be paid by parents.
- Discussion/action to approve LCHS softball team to travel to Jackson, TN on March 18, 2027, through March 20, 202. The team will be participating in the 2027 Sarah Beth Whitehead Memorial High School Softball Tournament. All transportation and hotel stay will be paid by parents.
- Discussion/action to approve pay scale for certified teachers who sub in classrooms.
- Discussion/action to approve board policies.
- Discussion of Administrative Procedure-3.400.5 Bus Driver Report & Certification.
- Election of three board members to represent Lewis County at the annual TSBA Conference and Convention in November.
- Election of Board Chair and Vice-Chair
