There are nine members of the Lewis County Board of Education, each elected at-large to serve staggered four-year terms. Officers are elected by the members of the Lewis County Board of Education. Candidates to the Board of Education must conform to the eligibility requirements of the Tennessee Election Code.
 
Meeting Information
Regular meetings of the Lewis County Board of Education are held each month at the Lewis County Board of Education Meeting Room located at 206 South Court Street, Hohenwald, TN 38462 beginning at 5:30 p.m. during work sessions and 6:00 p.m. during business meetings unless scheduled otherwise.
 
Public Comment (Citizens to Be Heard) Procedure

Individuals desiring to appear before the Board may request placement on the agenda by contacting the office of the Director of Schools within 72 hours before the meeting. They will be recognized at the beginning of the meeting during public input and remarks will be limited to (3) minutes. Items that will be considered for public input must be an action item listed on the agenda. The first five (5) people who sign up for a particular action item on the agenda will be allowed to address the Board.

The Lewis County Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Lewis County High School Auditorium located at 842 West Main Street, Hohenwald, TN.

Prior to the meeting there will be a workshop beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The agenda includes: 

  • Recognition of SCOPE students 

  • Recognition of LCHS Top Ten Students  

  • Recognition of the LCHS Boys Basketball Team, Coaches, Managers and Cheerleaders for an outstanding season accomplishing a milestone unmatched at Lewis County High School since 1958.   

  • Directors Report 

  • Discussion/Action to approve TSBA 2027 Membership Dues in the amount of $5,757.00.  

  • Discussion/Action to approve LCMS Honors Club Trip to the Tennessee Aquarium & Lake Winnepesaukah in Chattanooga, TN. The trip will be on Friday, May 8, 2026. Students and chaperones will leave LCMS at 6 am and will return to LCMS at approximately 9:15 pm.  

  • Discussion/Action to approve tenured teachers 

  • Discussion/Action to approve Teacher Advancement to Professional License. 

  • Discuss the Director of Schools evaluation results
