Igniting Innovation: LCMS STEM Students Build Their Community
Lewis County Middle School STEM teacher,Whitney Dixon, and her students have been busy building the future and making a big impact. In their STEM classes, the students have been working together to design and build a LEGO community of rural Lewis County, using creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills every step of the way.
From planning layouts and structures to designing unique build ings and community spaces, the students have enjoyed every moment of creating and designing their LEGO community. This hands-on project helped students connect learning to the real-world while developing critical STEM and career-ready skills such as collaboration, engineering design, and creative thinking. The students are also being slowly introduced to JR, the STEM robotic dog.
Projects like this show how career and technical education begins early by sparking curiosity, building confidence, and helping students discover their interests and talents. These future innovators are already learning how to think like designers, builders, and problem-solvers.
Great job to you and your students, Mrs. Dixon! Keep sparking curiosity in these young learners and continue to enable them to develop skills for a brighter future.
