Emily Spitzer, Lewis County Schools Chief Financial Director, enrolled and completed the 2024-2025 Certified County Finance Officer course through The University of Tennessee’s County Technical Assistance Services.  

This Certified County Finance Officer program provides accounting and financial reporting principles with an understanding of how county governments are structured in Tennessee. Courses started in February of 2024 and ended in April of 2025, with a graduation ceremony to be held on June 5, 2025, at the Library and Archive Center in Nashville, TN.

The CCFO program is comprised of 11 full-day classes and 22 exams consisting of:

Purchasing and Risk Management

Internal Control and Audit Payroll, benefits, pensions

Governmental Accounting I and II

Financial Reporting I and II
